Pakistan’s Top Broadband Internet Providers Revealed: PTCL Flash Fiber Leads in Speedtest Rankings
After unveiling the rankings of Pakistan’s best mobile networks earlier this week, new data from Ookla’s Speedtest Connectivity Report now shines a spotlight on the country’s fixed broadband providers. The findings, based on millions of real-world speed tests conducted between January and June 2025, offer a clear picture of how internet providers are performing nationwide.
Top Broadband Internet Providers in Pakistan – H1 2025
PTCL Flash Fiber secured the top spot as Pakistan’s fastest fixed internet provider for the first half of 2025, achieving a Speed Score™ of 56.95. However, competition remains tight at the top, with Transworld and Nayatel trailing closely behind with scores of 56.71 and 56.31, respectively — a razor-thin margin that places all three among the country’s elite ISPs.
Rounding out the top five are Cybernet and Connect Communications, both of which maintained solid performances. In contrast, PTCL’s older, non-fiber connections showed a significant drop, earning a much lower score of 41.59 — highlighting the growing performance gap between fiber and legacy technologies.
City-Wise Internet Speeds
When it comes to city-level performance, Islamabad took the lead for median fixed download speeds, clocking in at 20.36 Mbps. Karachi followed in second place, with Rawalpindi close behind in third.
At the other end of the spectrum, Faisalabad posted the slowest average speed among major cities at just 13.77 Mbps, while Multan and Peshawar also lagged behind.
Across all six major cities analyzed, PTCL Flash Fiber consistently delivered the fastest speeds, reinforcing its position as a market leader in fiber broadband.
Regional Internet Performance
Regionally, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) emerged as the best-performing area in the country with a median fixed download speed of 20.21 Mbps. Sindh came in second, followed by Balochistan in third.
The weakest broadband performance was recorded in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), where average speeds dipped to 5.31 Mbps. Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) also reported lower-than-average speeds.
Yet again, PTCL Flash Fiber stood out as the fastest provider in four out of the six regions surveyed.
Takeaway
As the demand for high-speed internet continues to surge across Pakistan, fiber-optic networks like PTCL Flash Fiber, Transworld, and Nayatel are clearly leading the charge. These providers are not only delivering faster speeds but also improving consistency and user experience — vital components in everything from remote work to online learning and entertainment.
